Conference Outcome.

 

  • Raised awareness and facilitated community engagement, while finding novel interventions and policy ideas to address the two emergent issues: climate change and mental health.
  • Promoted immigration policy to attract skilled workers and professions to diversify and strengthen the economy between Canada and other countries.
  • Facilitated knowledge exchange and mobilization to support Canadian's and other countries’ experiencing climate-related ecological distress.
  • Improved understanding of the degree to which communities are susceptible to, and unable to cope with adverse effects of climate change, including climate variability and extremes, and provide information/tools on how governments can do better to mitigate risks/or take advantage of opportunities.

About the 2nd Annual UBPC Conference

This 2nd Annual International conference on Climate Change and Mental Health aims to raise awareness and facilitate community engagement in matters regarding climate change and mental health, and specifically discuss the course effects that mental health and climate change have in our current day-to-day lives and present economies. We aim to unite a diverse group of experts across research, social activists, policy makers, lived experiences and community advocates from all career walks across the globe for a thorough, evidence-based exploration of the myriad dimensions of the climate crisis, ranging from scientific findings and technological innovations to legislative outcomes and the imperatives of social equity.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This conference is designed for a broad spectrum of attendees committed to addressing and learning the complexities of climate change and mental health. We invite researchers, environmental scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, mental health professionals, technology innovators, social activists, and community advocates. Educators, students, and members of non-profit organizations will also find the discussions enriching.

Whether you’re directly involved in climate-related and mental health work, or simply committed to making a meaningful impact, your participation will contribute to the collective endeavor to mitigate the effects of these urgent global emergencies.

Your engagement in this event equips you to make a substantive contribution to both global and local initiatives geared toward ecological awareness and the growing mental health concerns.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:

  • To identify engagement approaches to increase the value, quality, and impact of global climate change and mental health for people from black and racialized communities with lived experience on the emergent issues.
  • To discuss innovations in the study of social determinants and outcomes of global climate change and mental health and foster networking and sustainable partnerships among participants and conveners.
  • To raise awareness and educate key audiences on the importance of global climate change and mental health, which might allow for greater reach, empowerment, accountability, and mobilization toward the sustainable development goals.
  • To cultivate the next generation of global climate change and mental health advocates and researchers with a particular emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

UBPC Conference Policy

The following terms and conditions are applicable for the DO I MATTER Conference and UBPC-hosted conference registrations.

  • Registering for DO I MATTER 2024 Conference secures a space for you at the event. Any meals provided at the event are included in the conference registration fee.
  • Registration does not include such things as visa application, travel, and accommodation. Delegates are responsible for arranging for visa application, their own travel and accommodation.
  • Registrations will not be entered into the system and considered valid until payment in full has been received by the UBPC office.
  • Registrations are accepted through www.ubpc.org and info@ubpc.org email address.

Refund Policy:

Since the conferences incur certain expenses prior to the conference, it is necessary to impose the following cancellation policy:

Refunds apply if UBPC cancels the event per Force Majeure below.

Force Majeure:

  • If, UBPC is prevented from carrying out its obligations as it pertains to the Conference you registered for as a result of any cause beyond its control, or such Conference cannot be held or does not occur due to acts of God, strikes, labor disputes, government requisitions, restrictions or regulations on travel, hotel or facility availability, commodities or supplies, war or apparent act of war, terrorism, disaster, civil disorder, epidemic or pandemic, curtailment or restriction on transportation facilities, or any other comparable calamity, casualty or condition (collectively a “Force Majeure”) UBPC shall have the right to immediately terminate the affected Conference without liability and shall be relieved of its obligations to Registrant.
  • If the affected Conference is terminated due to a Force Majeure occurrence before the first day of the Conference, then UBPC will reschedule the affected Conference, if and as practical under the circumstances, and your registration fee will be applied to there scheduled Conference. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled conference, then you may transfer the registration fee you paid, upon written notification to UBPC management, towards another Conference, which is scheduled to be held within 12 months from the date of the affected Conference. UBPC reserves the right, at its discretion, to approve or deny such registration fee transfer requests. If there is a difference in the registration fees between the affected Conference and the alternative Conference,the difference in the registration fees will be charged or refunded, as applicable, on the credit, you used to register for the affected Conference.

UBPC Data Privacy Statement:

  • By registering for a UBPC Conference, you agree to allow UBPC, Conference suppliers and vendors, to use your personal information in the registration and other Conference related production services, and notification of activities related to the Conference.
  • By registering, you agree to receive email and/or print communications from sponsors of the Conference unless you specifically select to opt-out of sponsor communications during the registration process. If you allow your badge to be scanned on-site at an event by sponsors/exhibitors, you may be added to their mailing list and potentially contacted.
  • UBPC does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.

Recording/Photographs at UBPC:

By registering for a Conference, you the Registrant, acknowledges that, film, video, and photographs are being taken at the Conference. By you attending a Conference and your presence at such Conference, you give consent to UBPC, and its agents to record, use and publicize your voice, actions, likeness, and appearance, (collectively “recording”) in any manner and media, without compensation or obligation to you or your heirs and assigns; and (ii) UBPC will retain the exclusive right, title and interest (including all worldwide copyrights) to any such Recordings, free of any claims by you or any other person deriving any rights or interest from you.

Conduct at Conferences:

Attendees should be considerate, respectful, and collaborative towards all individuals participating in, or providing services, for the Conference. Please alert the Conference’s onsite management if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Acknowledgment and Acceptance of Terms and Conditions:

As a condition of your attendance at the Conference, you, Registrant, acknowledge and agree you have read and fully understand the Terms and Conditions, as set forth above.
